A CDEP originally created as a wedding present for my brother whose wedding was in Maui.

Five songs created entirely from processed sounds of tropical regions and areas.

Available in The Shop.

If you've ever taken a voyage through song, or just tripped balls on really good acid to the point where you believed you were soaking up rays on an island somewhere in the South Pacific, Hawaii 5.0 will soon be your tropical elixir of choice. Hellbound cruise director Secret Mommy, aka Andy Dixon, is your guide on this absurdist journey through the tropics: palm trees talk in ancient tongues, coconuts fight dirty and piña coladas come spiked with strychnine and bamboo dust. Glitchy and filled with rhythms that sound like a six year-old kicking a tin can through a field, the songs that make up the Hawaii 5.0 "experience" aren't exactly user friendly -- that is, unless you like to fall asleep to the frizz-fuzz-clink of a fax tone. Tiny bits of Haitian melody pop up in plinky pop songs like "The Food" and "The Drink", but by and large those moments are eclipsed by Dixon's phantasmagorical take on the vacation life...and his strict adherence to the IDMer's guide to holiday fun in the sun.
